Hazel has been passionate about animals for most of her life. Since graduating from Liverpool Veterinary School in 1996 she has been devoted to working with animals and helping them. The animals she treats are very fortunate in that they have loving, caring owners. Sadly there are plenty of animals who are not so lucky and it is these she would like to help.
To this end Hazel is embarking on a horse trek across the Inca trail in the Peruvian Andes to raise funds for the Blue Cross. The trek will take place in September 2010 and should take 5 days. It will cover approximately 135km at altitudes of up to 8000 feet over some quite rough terrain, so it will be very challenging. Night time accommadation will consist of a tent with no creature comforts in freezing temperatures! However there will be an opportunity to visit some Inca ruins en route, and ride amongst the Llamas and Alpacas roaming the eucalyptus forests and mountain passes.
The aim is to raise a minimum of £3000.00 for the Blue Cross, and with lots of events already taken place and many more still to come, Hazel is well on her way to reaching that £3000.00 target.
